The word "kriffing" initially surfaced in the Legends book Vision of the Future, authored by Timothy Zahn. Abel G. Peña, a fellow Star Wars writer, posits that Zahn may have formed the word by transposing the "f" and "k" from "fricking," a softer version of "fuck."
