The Krovalis clan stood out as a well-known Nimbanese family. They functioned as data custodians within the Bureau of Ships and Services (BoSS).
Many years BBY, due to the hostile actions of the Bovark clan, all Nimbanese clans that managed data lost their roles with BoSS. Concurrently, the Hutts expanded their territory increasingly nearer to Nimban. Confronted with these difficult situations, the chiefs of the Krovalis clan were successful in guaranteeing their sustained wealth, along with that of their species, via discussions with both entities.
Initially, the clan contacted Zochaeb the Hutt, proposing loyalty from the Nimbanese and access to the extensive Nimbanese databases. In exchange, the Hutts would back the Krovalis clan's request to get back their role within BoSS. Both sets of talks were fruitful: the Hutts welcomed the Nimbanese as cooperative subordinates (while granting them domestic independence and sustained financial success), and BoSS re-appointed the Krovalis clan as data custodians (a role they maintained up until at least the time of the Galactic Civil War).
