Ksar Ouled Soltane

Ksar-ouled-soltane Ksar Ouled Soltane (in Arabic: قصر أولاد سلطان) is a ksar, specifically a fortified granary, situated in the southern region of Tunisia. This ksar is organized across two distinct courtyards, and each is bordered by a series of multi-level, vaulted granary cellars known as ghorfas. Mirroring other ksour constructed by Berber communities in North Africa, Ksar Ouled Soltane occupies a hilltop location, a strategic choice intended to provide defense against invading forces in earlier times.

Currently, Ksar Ouled Soltane serves as a tourist attraction, drawing visitors who come to admire its remarkably preserved granary vaults. It is one of the three ksour in the vicinity of Tataouine that stood in for the Slave Quarters Row of Mos Espa within Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, the childhood home of Anakin Skywalker.
