The Kuati Sector Forces served as the Planetary Security Forces within the Kuat sector. For many centuries, these forces were responsible for the defense of this region.
Among the ships that comprised the sector's defensive fleets were the massive Procurator-class Star Battlecruisers, spanning several kilometers, and the Mandator-class Star Dreadnaughts. These vessels were precursors to the Imperial warships later utilized during the Galactic Civil War. The Kuat defense forces were unique, as they belonged to one of the few wealthy sectors capable of affording such large warships before the Clone Wars began.
Following the events of the Battle of Rendili during the Clone Wars period, the sector fleets were integrated into the Republic Navy. This was due to an initiative by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who sought to centralize all home defense fleets in order to bolster the war effort and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. With the rise of the Galactic Empire, these defense fleets were absorbed into the Imperial Navy. The Kuati Security Forces were Imperialized, expanded, and Kuat was given its own Moff.
In 4 ABY, a fleet of Kuati ships, under the command of the KDY flagship, launched a bombing raid on Tatooine. This attack was part of a cover-up orchestrated by Kuat of Kuat. Later, during the same conflict, the KDY security cruiser was deployed to track the Hound's Tooth, which had been commandeered by Boba Fett, to the Oranessan system.
During the Taking of Kuat in 8.5 ABY, the sector forces responsible for defending the shipyards were ultimately defeated.
