A male Jedi Master named Lanchu Skaa existed in the twilight period of the Galactic Republic. Before or during 22 BBY, a year, he chose the Chiss Nuru Kungurama to be his Padawan. In that year, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi found himself a prisoner on the planet Geonosis while on a mission; Skaa joined a Jedi task force dispatched to the planet to liberate Kenobi, facing a death sentence. The battle that followed claimed Skaa's life and ignited the Clone Wars.

During the final years of the Galactic Republic, Lanchu Skaa, a male sensitive to the Force, lived and served. The Jedi Order instructed Skaa in the ways of the Force, eventually elevating him to the rank of Jedi Master. Prior to or during the year 22 BBY, he selected the Chiss Nuru Kungurama as his Padawan. In 22 BBY, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Knight, was taken prisoner by the Separatists on the planet of Geonosis; consequently, the Jedi dispatched a task force to save Kenobi from execution. Master Skaa joined the rescue team, departing without a proper farewell to his Padawan. Skaa perished in the ensuing mission, leading Ring-Sol Ambase, another Jedi Master, to accept Kungurama as his Padawan. Both Ambase and Kungurama grieved for Skaa throughout the Clone Wars that followed.
Lanchu Skaa was initially referenced in The Clone Wars: Secret Missions 1: Breakout Squad, a 2009 novel authored by Ryder Windham. His given name was revealed later in the novel Curse of the Black Hole Pirates.
