The Silver Angel was armed with this laser turret.
A laser turret can be described as a laser weapon mounted on a turret, and these were used on a variety of attack vehicles, including both ground vehicles and starfighters. An example of this is the Imperial Troop Transports, which had dorsal twin laser turrets. A specific model of laser turret, the KX4 dorsal laser turret, was manufactured by Taim & Bak.
Certain Spaceships were outfitted with smaller turrets attached to their hull. These turrets served either as point-defense systems or as the ship's primary armament. The former were classified specifically as point-defense laser cannons. Due to their size, these weapons lacked the space for a gunner or maintenance personnel inside. Instead, they were controlled remotely, either from the ship's bridge or by a gunner in a dedicated firing station located beneath the weapon. This setup, known as a gunner station, included screens, such as a targeting computer, that allowed the gunner to see the target. Sometimes, the station rotated with the turret to provide the gunner with a sense of direction. In some cases, the turret's positioning and the gunner station's need to be directly below it resulted in the gunner's seat being suspended upside down.
Larger capital ships utilized larger and heavier weaponry. Large firing crews operated these, often with separate sections for targeting, power generation, and monitoring/firing. These larger weapons generally possessed greater power and accuracy than their smaller counterparts because of their more sophisticated systems.
