Lefrani, a planet classified as a gas giant, existed within the Atravis sector located in the Western Reaches region of the Outer Rim Territories. More specifically, it could be found in the Mustafar system, designated as grid square L-19 on the Standard Galactic Grid. Circling Mustafar in a tight orbit, Lefrani was perpetually locked in a cosmic battle with Jestefad, another gas giant, as each attempted to capture Mustafar as its own moon via gravitational dominance. This resulted in Mustafar's transformation into an unstable world dominated by magma and rocky terrain.
Millennia in the past, a massive conflict between the Jedi and the Sith caused Lefrani and Jestefad to be ejected from their original orbit around the star Priate. Subsequently, both gas giants were drawn closer to Mustafar, trapping the smaller planet in an unpredictable path influenced by their conflicting gravitational forces.
The prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, which premiered on May 19, 2005, marked Lefrani's initial appearance. Its identification within the new Star Wars canon occurred later, specifically in the seventeeth installment of the magazine Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon, released around April 29, 2015. Before that, Lefrani was identified in the Star Wars Legends continuity in Star Wars: Complete Locations, a reference book from Dorling Kindersley published on October 17, 2005.
