Legal Authorization for Advanced Confinement Document

Legal Authorization for Advanced Confinement Documents, often shortened to LAACDocs, represented official Imperial orders. These orders granted Imperial authorities the power to detain individuals indefinitely, based solely on their own judgment, without any formal charges or legal proceedings.

Use

These documents were conceived by High Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne and served as official authorizations for the capture and imprisonment of specific individuals sought by the Empire. A LAACDoc empowered Imperial personnel to utilize any necessary methods to seize and hold a targeted person for questioning by a High Inquisitor. When an Inquisitor wished to interrogate someone discreetly, an Imperial official, such as a general, admiral, prefect, governor, or Moff, could issue a LAACDoc. This tactic allowed a citizen to be held in isolation until the Inquisitor who requested their detention arrived. Following this, the "detainee" could be held for an unlimited duration. Since no actual crime was necessary for this detention, the limited judicial oversight still present within the Empire was bypassed. No evidence or proof of wrongdoing was required. A person targeted by a LAACDoc was never formally arrested. Rather, due to reasons known only to an Inquisitor, the Empire deemed it necessary to securely confine the individual to ensure they were available for interrogation by the Inquisitor at the appropriate time.

It was believed that LAACDocs were primarily intended for individuals suspected of having ties to the Jedi Order or possessing Force-related abilities. However, they became a convenient tool for Imperial officials to "remove" personal enemies and suspected Rebel sympathizers without concrete evidence, under the pretext that an Inquisitor might want to question them later.

LAACDocs did not involve actual bounties, as they were typically used to detain suspects or individuals the Empire considered dangerous. However, given the special interest the Empire had in the targeted individual, a suitable "honorarium" was often provided to those who assisted in the capture and secure delivery of LAACDoc detainees. A typical LAACDoc honorarium ranged from a mere hundred to several thousand credits.

It was rumored that the LAACDoc system had the backing of Darth Vader.
