Leika was a Bothan male (male) who held the position of chief surveyor for a mining corporation around the time of the Invasion of Naboo. He was of average height and notable for his wide nose and beard. Ars Veruna, the then-King of Naboo, at one point hired Leika's company to extract plasma reserves located in Gungan territory. Consequently, Leika was dispatched to the planet to collect data pertaining to Gungan cities. Despite Veruna's abdication preventing the execution of these plans, Leika, captivated by the enigma of the Gungan cities, chose to continue his work in the field.
Driven by his fascination with the project, the Bothan successfully gathered over a year's worth of information on Gungan settlements. However, his work was abruptly halted by the Trade Federation blockade of the planet in 32 BBY, which caused most of his informants to disappear. At the time of the blockade, Leika was situated in the city of Moenia. While attempting to depart the planet, he was apprehended and taken to Camp Six. Like many other foreigners, Leika was denied permission to leave and was placed in a dormitory alongside twenty Naboo actors, a Rodian wilderness guide, and two Bith musicians. When Darth Maul arrived on Naboo to oversee the Trade Federation invasion, he offered Leika safe passage off the planet in return for the information the Bothan had compiled during his assignment.
Leika makes an appearance in the 2012 short story titled "End Game," penned by James Luceno and included in the re-issued version of the novelization of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.
