Lenovo is a worldwide technology company that designs, develops, and sells computers and related tech. The company, originally named Legend, was established in 1984. It rebranded as Lenovo in 2003 and started growing from its primary consumer base in China to a global market, eventually becoming the world's biggest personal computer manufacturer. Lenovo collaborated with Disney and Schell Games to create Star Wars: Jedi Challenges, which made use of their uniquely designed "Lenovo Mirage AR headset" and the distinctive "Lightsaber Controller." The formal announcement for Star Wars: Jedi Challenges occurred on August 31, 2017, with its official launch following on October 26 of that same year. The game received three significant expansions: "The Last Jedi Update," the "Holochess Update," and the "Dark Side Expansion," before its eventual discontinuation on June 1, 2022. Lenovo ceased all support for the product just a month later, on July 6. Soon after its release, the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges AR Headset secured Lenovo the "2017 – 2018 Golden A' Design Award" in the category of "Digital and Electronic Devices Design Award," recognizing its user-friendly design and high level of immersion. Furthermore, at the 2018 Webby Awards, Star Wars: Jedi Challenges emerged victorious in four categories. These included the "Official categories" of "Technical Achievement" and "Best Use of Augmented Reality," in addition to the "People's Voice categories," which also recognized "Technical Achievement" and "Best Use of Augmented Reality."
