During the year 1 ABY, an accident occurred at the Imperial Research and Prison Facility situated on the planet of Dathomir. The Blackwing virus, under study at that location, breached its containment, causing widespread devastation and transforming hundreds of individuals into ravenous undead beings. The Galactic Empire responded by quickly establishing a Quarantine Zone in an attempt to control the spread of the infection. Lieutenant Waurie was dispatched to Dathomir, where he commanded the unit of stormtroopers tasked with guarding the Quarantine Zone's entrance.
Liam Waurie made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before its eventual shutdown on December 15, 2011. Liam Waurie was incorporated into the game through "Game Update 14," also known as the "Death Troopers" update, which was released on October 12, 2009.
