Liaq, a planet, existed in the Core Worlds' Liaq system. By the year 2 ABY, Rebel Alliance officer Beryl Chiffonage came across some mercenaries while on Liaq. Afterward, around 2 ABY, Alliance officer Risiev Credal initiated a jump to hyperspace during a patrol, and because all communication with him was severed, it was thought that he might have defected to the Galactic Empire. Chiffonage, who had been Credal's mentor, then added a personal note to a Task Force on Alliance Security SecuriDex datafile concerning Credal. In that note, Chiffonage wrote that, upon Credal's return, he would scold him and then inform him of the encounter that occurred on Liaq.
Alliance Intelligence Reports, a sourcebook released in 1995 for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games, mentioned Liaq. Later, the reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, located the Liaq system, and thus Liaq itself, in grid square M-11.
