The Lightwind Orphanage existed as a facility for childcare within Bestine. Bestine was the capital city located on the planet Tatooine, which itself was situated within the Outer Rim territories.
During 1 ABY, the orphanage was the recipient of a substantial gift of one million credits. This donation came from Victor Visalis, a politician active in the local area. The funds allowed the orphanage to acquire items such as toys and new clothes for the children, and to improve the beds. The money also paid for repairs to the orphanage's structure. Additional contributors included N'cor Silver (100 credits), T'liha i'Ora (50 credits), Jiloa Frost (1,000 credits), Kliyna Furthen (2,000 credits), and Mlinoa Blue (150 credits).
The Lightwind Orphanage appeared in Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. LucasArts published the game, which was developed by Sony. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. The video game is no longer available.
