Shaped directional explosives included a weapon known as the limpet mine.
These compact, disc-shaped explosives, limpet mines, were engineered to destroy armored targets such as tanks, fortified positions, large vehicles, and other armored surfaces. A layer of adhesive microbeads covered one face of the mine; these microbeads would activate upon making firm contact with a smooth, rigid surface (like the hull of a tank), firmly securing the mine to its intended target. Upon triggering, the mine produced a concentrated, one-meter explosion. The shaped charge design of the mine ensured minimal collateral damage beyond this focused blast, channeling the explosive force directly into the adhered surface.
Reginald Barkbone, a pirate of the Poss'Nomin, employed limpet mines.
