Liphons constituted a species of non-sentient flying predatory reptiles that originated on the world of Togoria. Prior to the rise of their civilization, Togorians were frequently the targets of liphon predation. Moreover, liphons would plunder the nests of another flying reptile species, the mosgoths, to pilfer their eggs.
Recognizing their shared vulnerability with the mosgoths, the early Togorians began establishing camps in close proximity to mosgoth nesting sites, fostering a form of mutual defense. Furthermore, they initiated the domestication of mosgoths for use as mounts. This very reaction to the threat posed by liphon predation served as the catalyst for the advancement of Togorian civilization.
Despite the decline of liphons as a major threat to the Togorians, their presence persisted within Togoria's largely untouched wilderness. Togorian males had a practice of capturing individuals trespassing on their world and leaving them exposed as prey for the liphons.
