Liyn was a male officer within the Imperial Navy during the era of the Second Galactic Civil War. In the Second Battle of Fondor, Liyn held the rank of Commander and was part of the security forces stationed on the Imperial Remnant Star Destroyer known as the Bloodfin. His life came to an end when the crew of the ship revolted against the Moffs, who had chosen to support Darth Caedus following the demise of Grand Admiral Gilad Pellaeon.
Later, Lieutenant Lydea Pagorski asserted that she and Liyn shared a romantic relationship. She also stated that Liyn had confided in her about the presence of former Jedi Tahiri Veila among those who were present at the conference held aboard the Bloodfin not long before the conflict at Fondor.
