Lonnaw

Lonnaw, a planet situated in the Mid Rim, lay along the path of the Entralla Route. Back in 27 BBY, it was the initial planned destination for the Galactic Republic's exploratory starship, called the Outbound Flight, as it conducted its initial trial voyage. Later, thirty-nine years after this event, the Imperial Remnant briefly captured Lonnaw from the control of the New Republic.

Description

Within the Droma sector of the Mid Rim and [New Territories](/article/new_territories-legends] regions, Lonnaw existed as a planet within the Lonnaw system. This planet was connected to both the Orinda and Obredaan systems via the Entralla Route hyperlane. At least five additional systems could be found between Lonnaw and the world of Orinda.

History

Lonnaw was captured by the Imperial Remnant in 12 ABY.

The Galactic Republic starship, Outbound Flight, embarked on a mission in 27 BBY. It departed from Yaga Minor, a planet located in the Outer Rim Territories, with the intention of exploring and establishing colonies in the Unknown Regions. As part of a three-week shakedown cruise, Lonnaw was the first scheduled stop, allowing for a standard navigational assessment before continuing onward to the Argai Minor system within the Colonies' region.

By 12 ABY, Lonnaw was situated within the territory claimed by the New Republic. The Imperial Remnant, however, seized the planet during that year as part of a series of conquests targeting Republic systems. Of the territories captured from Orinda, Lonnaw was the closest to the Core Worlds. After establishing a presence on Lonnaw, the Imperial forces were eventually compelled to retreat back to Orinda following a number of conflicts with the forces of the New Republic.

Behind the scenes

The planet Lonnaw was initially referenced in Timothy Zahn's 2006 novel, Outbound Flight. Later, the reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, identified the planet's location as grid square K-6.
