Lorne Peterson at Celebration III Lorne Peterson's expertise lies in visual effects, where he contributed as a model maker for Industrial Light & Magic across all six original Star Wars motion pictures. Furthermore, he penned the 2006 publication, Sculpting a Galaxy: Inside the Star Wars Model Shop. Notably, he co-created the design for Boba Fett's ship, the Slave I, alongside another model maker.
He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Art from California State University, Long Beach. Ever since George Lucas employed him in 1975, Peterson has lent his talents to numerous Lucas productions, as well as several directed by Steven Spielberg. Peterson was honored with both an Academy Award and a British Academy Award in 1984 for his Visual Effects contributions to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. In 1988, Peterson held the position of chief modelmaker for Willow, another Lucas film unrelated to Star Wars.
