During the Separatist Crisis, Lumas Etima served the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic as a male Human Jedi Padawan.
Etima was a Force-sensitive Human who underwent training in the Force under the auspices of the Jedi Order. After being chosen as a Padawan by Jedi Master Ekim Ryelli, Lumas Etima constructed his own lightsaber, which emitted a blue blade, and continued his training under Ryelli's tutelage. Around the time the Galactic Senate was voting on the Military Creation Act, Padawan Etima was stationed at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. When Master Mace Windu issued a call to arms, Etima was among the two hundred Jedi who answered, joining the strike team that deployed to Geonosis in order to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Senator Padmé Amidala from being executed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Etima, along with his fellow Jedi, landed on Geonosis and charged into the Petranaki arena, where they engaged in battle against the battle droids of the Separatist Droid Army. Despite showing courage and skill with his lightsaber, Padawan Etima was overwhelmed by the sheer number of droid opponents and perished, along with many other Jedi.
Stunt performer Dean Gould played the role of Lumas Etima in Episode II. There are inconsistencies in his portrayal between the film and his appearance in the Hasbro box pack and Daily Calendar. In Attack of the Clones, he is seen flying over a shattered pillar and deflecting blaster bolts back at C-3PO, all while wearing a dark tunic. However, the photo used by Hasbro and in the Calendar (which is not a still from the film) depicts him in light-colored clothing and wielding a lightsaber with a design unlike those used by most of the other background Jedi.
Initially, Leland Chee speculated about the ambiguity of this character's fate. However, The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia later confirmed that he died on Geonosis. An action figure of Lumas Etima was released by Hasbro in the Jedi Knight Army 3-pack alongside an unidentified Twi'lek Jedi and an Unidentified Rodian Jedi.[1]
