Magus (bounty hunter)

Magus was a male Human bounty hunter, active in the blood trade in the years preceding the Battle of Naboo. The Corporate Alliance frequently employed him, often for covert and illicit operations. He is classified as male.

Biography

In the year 39 BBY, Passel Argente engaged Magus to execute twenty leaders attending a conference held on Rondai-2. To accomplish this assignment, Magus gathered a team of bounty hunters, including Raptor, Pilot, Lunasa, and the infamous Gorm the Dissolver. However, their plans were compromised when a young boy named Talesan Fry, known as Taly, uncovered them. This forced the group to pursue him to prevent the information from reaching the Galactic Senate. Pirates eventually captured Taly and delivered him to Magus, who then departed for Rondai-2 to carry out his mission, using Taly as a human shield. Unfortunately for Magus, a group of Jedi Knights, consisting of Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Adi Gallia, and Siri Tachi, intervened and thwarted the assassination attempt.

Following the deaths of Raptor and the capture of Lunasa and Gorm by the Jedi, Magus and Pilot attempted to escape with Talesan. Magus fled from the Jedi using an airspeeder, resulting in both Pilot and Talesan falling off. Pilot perished from the fall, but Siri Tachi rescued Taly. Enraged by his foiled scheme, Magus sought vengeance by tracking down and murdering Taly's parents.

Afterward, Magus disappeared into hiding for approximately two decades, resurfacing to work for Passel Argente and the Corporate Alliance, now a part of the Separatist movement. Argente sent him to the neutral planet Genian with the mission to retrieve a highly confidential device from Helina Dow. He successfully acquired the codebreaker, shooting Helina during his escape. Unbeknownst to Magus, the codebreaker he stole was merely a worthless prototype. However, Helina had implanted a tracer in the real device, enabling the Separatists to trace it to Azure. On Azure, Magus participated in the Separatist assault on a clandestine Republic base. He attempted to eliminate Taly once and for all, but Siri Tachi disabled his ship. During the ensuing confrontation, Magus fatally shot Siri, who, in her final act, managed to knock him unconscious. Siri succumbed to her injuries, and Magus was taken into Republic custody.
