The Mandator II-class Star Dreadnought, alternatively referred to as the Mandator-II Star Dreadnaught, a product of Kuat Drive Yards, belonged to the Mandator line. This formidable Star Dreadnought dwarfed the Venator-class Star Destroyer in size. However, the ships of the Venator-class were produced in much greater numbers and saw more widespread service within the Galactic Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. To effectively challenge a single Mandator II-class vessel, a force exceeding 1,000 Recusant-class light destroyers would be required.
Within current Star Wars canon, the reference book Star Wars: Complete Vehicles, which was released in 2018, marked the introduction of the Mandator-II Star Dreadnaught. This information about the ship originated from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections, a 2005 reference book by Curtis Saxton. This earlier book also served as the starship's debut within the Star Wars Legends continuity. The Spanish and French versions of "Starships of the Empire and the Rebellion," the seventy-ninth installment of De Agostini's Star Wars Encyclopedia series, published on October 12, 2021 and October 28, 2021, respectively, designated it as the Mandator II-class battleship. The English version of the encyclopedia, which came out in 2022, identified it by the name Mandator II-class Star Dreadnought.
