Manuel "Manny" Both-Hanz was a member of the Rebel Alliance, known as an agent. He was a Human or near-Human of notably short stature. He had a romantic involvement with Mon Mothma, who was the Chief of State for the Alliance. He tragically lost his life while attempting to deliver the plans for the Death Star II to the Alliance.
During 4 ABY, the existence of the second Death Star was uncovered by Manny Both-Hanz. Furthermore, he was successful in determining the precise location of the Emperor's new battle station within the Endor system. He also discovered that the Emperor himself would be present, personally overseeing the final construction phases.
Tag Greenley and Bink Otauna, accompanied by Lando Calrissian, journeyed to the planet Tatooine with the intention of relaying this vital information to the Alliance High Command. Their goal was to meet a contact who could guide them to Both-Hanz. Calrissian engaged in conversation with a bounty hunter by the name of Kannen Doom. Greenley and Otauna, under the impression that Calrissian was becoming sidetracked and flirting, intervened by using their stormtrooper disguises to forcibly remove Calrissian from the woman at gunpoint. Calrissian then revealed that she was, in fact, their contact, but the two remarked that she didn't appear to be a 'Manuel.' Calrissian responded that she was going to lead them to Manuel Both-Hanz and that they had ruined their chance by frightening her away.
After infiltrating Jabba the Hutt's Palace, with Greenly wearing Boba Fett's armor and Otauna in disguise, Doom rescued the two from being devoured by the Great Pit of Carkoon. She believed Greenly was actually her former love, Boba Fett. After Doom removed her helmet, Greenley and Otauna realized that she was the individual meant to take them to Both-Hanz. Upon revealing the location where they had hidden Fett, Doom presented Both-Hanz, surprising Greenley and Otauna with his diminutive size. Both-Hanz revealed that he possessed the plans for the second Death Star, which the Empire had been able to construct due to a generous insurance policy provided by the Geonosians. Tragically, Both-Hanz was fatally shot by Boba Fett during an incident at the Mos Eisley spaceport. However, Tag and Bink successfully transmitted the information to Mon Mothma, enabling the Rebellion to ultimately destroy the Empire.
While aboard the shuttle Tydirium, Tag and Bink informed Mothma, who instructed them to present Both-Hanz to the Imperial High Command to avoid raising suspicion that the transaction had been successful. Disguised as Royal Guards, they delivered his body to the Death Star.
Later, during the briefing prior to the Battle of Endor, Mothma somberly stated that "Manny Both-Hanz died in the process" of acquiring and delivering the critical information.
Manuel Both-Hanz is a character who only appears in The Return of Tag & Bink: Special Edition, a parody comic book created by Kevin Rubio. His name serves as a play on words, referencing the line "Many Bothans died" spoken by Mon Mothma in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
