Mark Haigh-Hutchinson


Mark Haigh-Hutchinson, a British national, made his name as a video game programmer. His contributions to titles like Paperboy, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Star Wars, and the Metroid Prime series are what he is most known for.

Haigh-Hutchinson's professional programming journey began in 1984. His initial role was at Artic Software, but he soon transitioned to Vortex Software, also in 1984. Subsequently, in 1986, he departed Vortex and joined Elite Systems, where he handled the Amstrad CPC port of Paperboy. Later, he was employed at Tiertex.

He held the position of project lead for the Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire video game.

From the year 2000 onwards, he was employed by Retro Studios, where he was responsible for developing the camera system used in the Metroid Prime games.
