A kind of missile launcher employed by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars was the mass-driver missile launcher. The Republic's Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry gunships and RTT-04 armored troop transports were equipped with a dual mass-driver missile launcher system mounted on their dorsal side. The Low Altitude Assault Transport gunships possessed the capability to fire missiles at velocities reaching hypersonic levels; the warheads of these missiles were designed to concentrate their explosive force within a narrow, two-degree conical area. Conversely, instead of a mass-driver missile launcher, LAAT/i gunships could be outfitted with a pair of EP-750X EMP missile launchers.
