The tragic massacre that occurred at the Gran Protectorate Embassy is recorded as happening in 52 BBY. Within the embassy, Senator Pax Teem of the Gran Protectorate met his murder at the hands of Darth Sidious, who was the apprentice of Darth Plagueis'; this act eliminated a political obstacle for the Sith Lords.
Because of Naboo's stance in a recent Galactic Senate vote, and the conspiracies that Hego Damask and Senator Palpatine of Naboo were involved in, Senator Pax Teem resolved to eliminate them. To achieve this, Teem contracted Maladian assassins to abduct and kill Palpatine, while other assassins would target Hego Damask during Larsh Hill's initiation into the Order of the Canted Circle at their Fobosi District lodge. Unbeknownst to him, Palpatine and Damask were secretly Sith Lords.
Following his kidnapping, Palpatine had a brief conversation with Teem before being rescued by Sun Guards. After speaking with Damask, who advised him to continue as normal, Palpatine went to his residence. The arrival of Sate Pestage prompted Palpatine to realize Teem had also targeted Damask, leading them to rush to the lodge. The lodge was infiltrated by the Maladian assassins, who fatally wounded Larsh Hill and others, and severely injured Damask. Sate Pestage and Palpatine arrived to eliminate the assassins, but Damask was left needing a transpirator due to his injuries.
After the failed assassination attempt on Damask, and the Sun Guard's discovery that Teem was hosting a party at the Gran Protectorate Embassy to celebrate his imagined triumph over the Muun, Darth Sidious decided to personally assassinate Teem, using his master's lightsaber. Sidious deliberately saved Teem for last, and proceeded to slaughter everyone else present, including all the guests that Teem had invited to a feast. After butchering Teem's family, friends, and guests right before his horrified eyes, Sidious used the Force to set fire to a large curtain, causing it to fall and engulf Teem, roasting him alive.
Having survived the attempt on his life and deciding against reforming Damask Holdings, Hego Damask withdrew from galactic affairs, leading some to believe he was dead. By 33 BBY, Pax Teem had been succeeded by Aks Moe and Ainlee Teem, his aides.
The events of the massacre at the Gran Protectorate Embassy are depicted in the 2012 novel titled Darth Plagueis, authored by James Luceno.
