Pax Teem was a Gran senator of the male gender. He served as a representative for the Gran Protectorate located on Malastare within the Galactic Senate during the final years of the Galactic Republic.
Darth Tenebrous, a Dark Lord belonging to the Sith, at one point considered Teem as a potential puppet Supreme Chancellor. Tenebrous and his apprentice, Darth Plagueis, planned to manipulate this figurehead. However, after a dispute arose between Teem and Hego Damask, Plagueis's public identity, Palpatine, who was Plagueis's apprentice and ultimately became the Sith-supported Chancellor instead of Teem, became a target for the Gran Senator.
In 52 BBY, Teem collaborated with Santhe Security to orchestrate the kidnapping of Palpatine and an attack targeting Damask Holdings. However, Pax Teem, along with his family and friends, met his demise at the hands of Palpatine himself while celebrating his perceived triumph. His senatorial seat was then taken over by his aide, Aks Moe, and Ainlee Teem.
Some time before 67 BBY, Pax Teem assumed the role of senator for the Gran Protectorate. A devoted enthusiast of podracing, he was known for his attendance at the Vinta Harvest Classic on Malastare, as evidenced in 65 BBY. It was during this event that Senator Teem expressed his indignation upon discovering that Hego Damask, the Muun Magister of Damask Holdings and secretly the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Plagueis, was backing Gardulla the Hutt's scheme to seize control of the remote and desolate planet Tatooine and transform it into a major podracing hub. The potential loss of podracing revenue, coupled with the discovery of a substantial plasma source on Naboo that could undermine Malastare's fuel exports, posed a significant threat to the Protectorate's financial stability.
Following Palpatine's ascension from Naboo as the Senate representative for the Chommell sector in 52 BBY, succeeding Vidar Kim, Senator Teem approached him with the intention of securing him as a crony for the Protectorate. Unbeknownst to Teem, Palpatine was secretly Darth Sidious, the apprentice of Plagueis, who was also the alter ego of Hego Damask. After observing Palpatine and Damask engaging in amicable conversation with Jedi Masters Dooku and Sifo-Dyas before a vote concerning the seating of several "client worlds" of the Trade Federation, including Felucia and Murkhana, the Gran began to perceive Palpatine as a political adversary. Pax Teem became convinced that Palpatine and Damask were in league after Palpatine's abstention from the vote benefited the Trade Federation while undermining Teem's interests.
Teem then allied himself with Santhe Security to organize Palpatine's abduction. The Naboo senator played along with the scheme to eliminate his captors and prove his worth to his Master, but Plagueis had different plans: he anticipated this event and intended to use it as an opportunity to eliminate Teem. After Damask's Sun Guards intervened and liberated Palpatine, they pursued the Gran, who was supposedly in hiding on an orbital station. However, Plagueis was unaware of the other element of Teem's plan: The Muun Magister was overseeing the initiation of Larsh Hill into the Order of the Canted Circle at the Order's Fobosi Lodge, and Teem had contracted Maladian assassins to infiltrate the Order and assassinate all participants, with Damask as the primary target. Plagueis, the sole survivor of the attack, and his Sun Guards fought off numerous assassins before Palpatine and Sate Pestage arrived.
Upon learning that Teem was hosting a gathering at the Gran Protectorate Embassy, Sidious made his way to assassinate him. He slaughtered everyone within reach, including the guests invited to Teem's feast. Saving Teem for last, he employed the Force to set fire to a floor-to-ceiling curtain where the Gran had sought refuge, resulting in his death. By 33 BBY, Teem's position had been filled by his aide, Aks Moe, and Ainlee Teem.
