Genetic material from both the deceased Human Galen Marek and the Dathomirian Zabrak Sith apprentice Darth Maul were combined to make him. The resulting being possessed silver skin adorned with black tattoos and gold eyes. Due to the inherent incompatibilities between the two genetic sources, the clone suffered from both physical and mental instability, ultimately leading to his swift demise. Even Darth Vader himself felt fear when facing Maulkiller, such was his presence.
Maulkiller was introduced in 2010 as an exclusive preorder bonus avatar from GameStop for players of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game platforms. Also included in the preorder bonus were "Crystals Maulkiller Silver Saber," which consumed less Force Energy. According to the article The Good, the Bad, and the Gorog in Star Wars Insider 121, Maulkiller's creation stemmed from brainstorming sessions among project team members regarding combat wardrobes, with the character drawing inspiration from Darth Maul.
