Max von Sydow


Max von Sydow, born on April 10, 1929, and who passed away on March 8, 2020, was a dual citizen of Sweden and France, celebrated for his acting career that included the role of Lor San Tekka in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. His involvement with Lucasfilm predates this, having portrayed Sigmund Freud in an episode of the television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

His fame stems from his performances in a diverse array of films, notably The Seventh Seal (1957), The Exorcist (1973), Flash Gordon (1980), Never Say Never Again (1983), Dune (1984), Judge Dredd (1995), Minority Report (2002), and Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close (2011), the latter of which garnered him his second Academy Award nomination. Beyond live-action roles, he contributed his voice to projects like the video game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Ghostbusters 2. In 2016, he joined the cast of HBO's popular show Game of Thrones, appearing alongside Gwendoline Christie, a fellow actor from The Force Awakens, in the role of the Three-Eyed Raven.
