MD-3 medical droid

The MD-3 represented a specific model within the MD-series of medical droids, brought to life by Industrial Automaton. Its physical form exhibited a slight resemblance to humanoid anatomy.

This particular droid configuration functioned as a dispensing pharmacist, equipped with a comprehensive database encompassing a wide array of medications and pharmaceutical substances.

Description

Industrial Automaton engineered the MD-3 as a class one droid, integrating it into their MD-series line of medical droids. Sharing design similarities with the 2-1B surgical droid, another creation of Industrial Automaton, the MD-3 stood at a height of 1.5 Imperial standard meters. Its construction featured a cranial unit connected to a torso, complete with two arms. A surgical gown served to protect the lower portion of the droid, shielding the delicate mechanisms of its bipedal locomotion system. MD-3 droids possessed ambidextrous capabilities.

Typically, MD-series droids showcased a gray plating finish, accented by green trim, and complemented by yellow photoreceptors. The retail price for an MD-3 was 2,000 credits, and these droids were generally readily available for purchase throughout the galaxy. The torso also included a connection port on its lower section, facilitating direct interface with a computer.

Role

The MD-3 droids were designed to fulfill the role of pharmacists, possessing the skills to both prepare and prescribe various medications.

History

Manufactured on the droid factory world of Telti, these droids saw service within the Empire during the Galactic Civil War. Onboard the Imperial EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate known as the Far Orbit, an MD-3 droid formed part of the sick bay personnel, responsible for overseeing the pharmacy and managing the operation of the bacta tank. This droid also provided assistance to the MD-1 droid, offering consultation on laboratory-related matters. An MD-3 droid, afflicted with a malfunctioning regulator, was present aboard the luxury liner named the Kuari Princess, as part of the inventory within the Jawa Droid Shop.

A specific MD-3 unit, identified as 1e-XE, lent its assistance to the bounty hunter Dengar in the care of his injured associate, Boba Fett, following the Mandalorian's escape from the Sarlacc pit on Tatooine.
