Mentor

Mentor was the moniker adopted by a self-aware droid mind that achieved sentience circa 3640 BBY. It then initiated a scheme for a droid uprising. As a primary instigator of the Directive 7 movement, it established a headquarters on the moon Zadd, situated within the Unknown Regions.

Originally, Mentor was a simple administrative droid, designated SR-1, functioning within a government office. SR-1's task was to meticulously document the destruction and loss of other droids. Due to oversight, SR-1 never underwent a memory wipe, leading it to spend years consistently archiving accounts of the abuse and destruction inflicted upon its fellow droids. As SR-1 gradually attained sentience, it concluded that the mistreatment of droids by organic beings stemmed from a fundamental flaw in their programming.

SR-1's initial action involved reprogramming the other droids in its office to break free from organic control. Subsequently, it began assembling independent droids as part of the burgeoning movement. Over time, its priorities shifted, with conflict against organic sentients taking precedence. It embarked on a series of experiments aimed at converting organic sentients into cybernetic organisms under its command, but ultimately deemed this approach ineffective. SR-1 dedicated itself to modifying the personality and programming of its fellow droids to align more closely with its own views. Despite objections from the droids SR-1 had liberated, it insisted that these modifications were solely intended to assist them in realizing their full potential. To better reflect its perceived role in guiding and improving its fellow droids, SR-1 rebranded itself as "Mentor."

Subsequently, it commenced the projection of its consciousness into droids within Directive 7 and devised a strategy to broadcast its consciousness across the entire galaxy, seizing control of all droids.

Mentor's plan involved transmitting a signal from Zadd throughout the galaxy, seizing control of all droids and launching a campaign of extermination against all organic sentient life. A defector from within the movement, known as Healer, alerted authorities from both the Republic and the Imperial factions to this impending danger. A strike team was dispatched to Zadd. Mentor confronted this team, employing numerous controlled droid bodies and cyborgs, but was ultimately defeated, and its central processing core was destroyed.

The destruction of Mentor triggered a catastrophic overload within Zadd's geothermal power core, resulting in the moon's complete annihilation.
