The Mestra system, found within the Minos Cluster, lacked any planets. However, it possessed one of the most extensive asteroid fields throughout the galaxy, notably featuring the asteroid named Javis-12. Several asteroids within Mestra supported active mining endeavors. While a precise figure remained elusive, estimations placed the number of substantial rock fragments in the system at a minimum of 100 trillion, with hundreds comparable in size to small moons. The Mestra system contained exceptionally abundant reserves of durelium ore, a highly prized metal within the galaxy due to its crucial role in building hyperdrives.
The spaceport on Javis-12 was the sole asteroid in the entire system equipped with a landing beacon or any form of starport. Javis-12 also provided the only ship repair and refueling services accessible in the system, albeit at a steep cost of 200 percent above the standard rate. The Javis-12 spaceport was comprised of a network of domes and caverns situated on one of the system's largest asteroids. Javis-12, roughly egg-shaped and approximately 400 kilometers in diameter, was positioned at the asteroid belt's outer boundary. The asteroid had been de-spun, and the spaceport was oriented directly away from the belt, significantly reducing the risk of asteroid impacts.
The Arcona known as Vegath Tist was once compelled to labor as a miner within the system during a period of forced servitude. Ultimately, he escaped from the mines, taking whatever he could manage to pilfer at the time.
