Middle City

The Middle City represented one of the levels within the Tarisian world-city complex, situated between the affluent Upper City and the impoverished Lower City. Its construction predates Taris's rise to prominence as a major galactic hub by a couple of centuries. It served as a residential and commercial center for small business owners and the general populace, who frequented the Middle City for various transactions. Aerial traffic, including swoops and air speeders, navigated the designated air-traffic lanes that crisscrossed the numerous avenues of the Middle City's towering structures.

Being the largest of the city levels, the Middle City encompassed a significant portion of the overall urban area. It was the fourth city constructed under the authority of the Taris Civil Authority, positioned above the Lower City, Undercity, and the Promised Land. Eventually, the Upper City was erected above the Middle City. Following the Tarisian Civil War, it became the most densely populated level, primarily inhabited by the lower and middle classes of the Human population, although a presence of Aliens existed, surpassing that of the Upper City.

In the year 3964 BBY, the Middle City experienced widespread rioting following the second escape of Zayne Carrick from the Jedi Tower. During the Taris Siege, the Middle City suffered extensive bombardment from Mandalorian Kandosii-type dreadnaughts.

While not entirely free from criminal activity, the Middle City was generally more tranquil compared to the other levels of Taris, though not as peaceful as the Upper City.

During their occupation, the Sith likely maintained patrols within the Middle City, which was also presumably affected by Exchange criminal elements. It is presumed that the majority of the Middle City's inhabitants perished during Taris's destruction.

By 3 ABY, Human colonists had rebuilt the Middle City, but it never returned to being a place where only Humans from the middle and lower classes were allowed to reside.
