Mike Jackson

Mike Jackson, hailing from Canada, is an accomplished individual who works as an artist, a game developer, and an independent filmmaker. During the 1990s, he created artwork for several Star Wars game supplements released by West End Games. A particularly memorable image from the Star Wars Gamemaster Handbook in 1993 depicted an Ewok on the boarding ladder of an X-wing starfighter, and it is thought that this may have influenced the creation of the "mythical" character Kettch in Aaron Allston's series of X-Wing novels.

Jackson's artistic style was characterized by its crisp, clean lines and a strong sense of realism. His work was also known for the extensive research he conducted to ensure the accuracy of the compositions and the technology portrayed in each illustration.

At present, Mike is fully dedicated to his work in the film industry. One of his earlier projects, a short film titled Dial 'A' for Alphaman, was selected for broadcast on the Sci-fi Network in 2003.

It is important not to confuse Mike Jackson with a similarly named crewmember who contributed to Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. However, Mike did enjoy seeing his name appear in the end credits.

Mike illustrated the Astromech droid R2-D2 and considered it a highlight of his career as an illustrator.

During his time illustrating for Star Wars, Jackson utilized a number of models, including Rob Deary, Mike Fitzpatrick, Jens Hausser, Tony Heath, David Langtry, Steve Lyons, Dean McGee, Dru O'Higgins, Peter Tupper, Grant Wazney, and John Wong.
