Milo Thirk functioned as the head of the Intelligence Bureau for Alliance Intelligence within the Bespin system. To gather intel on Cloud City's new Baron Administrator, Lando Calrissian, for Alliance Intelligence officer Eddriss Sark, Thirk engaged Calrissian in casual conversation while playing several amicable games of sabacc. During these games, Calrissian won 5,700 credits, an expense Thirk later sought reimbursement for. Thirk's assessment was that Calrissian, while not fond of the Galactic Empire, was unlikely to forfeit the safety and opulence of his role to actively participate in the Rebellion. Nevertheless, Thirk observed that Calrissian possessed a sense of honor (albeit with some dishonesty), suggesting the potential for negotiation.
