After the New Republic Army's officer ranks were significantly reduced due to the surprise Imperial assault on Coruscant, Crix Madine, previously a General, took on this role. He provided service to both the Inner Council and the New Republic High Command. The position was eliminated by 16 ABY, and its duties were transferred to the Supreme Commander position.
