Mission 3: Dark Whispers


Dark Whispers: Mission 3 represents the third combat scenario for starfighters, crafted for the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game. It was initially released as a rules expansion contained within the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game Core Set.

Storyline Synopsis

A network of Rebel holonet satellites, vital for secure galactic communications, has been discovered by Imperial reconnaissance. Imperial forces aim to approach and extract encrypted Rebel data. Rebel forces are tasked with delaying the Imperials, providing time to activate security measures, thereby shutting down the network but preserving the data.

Initial Configuration

Rebel: A Red Squadron Pilot equipped with Proton Torpedoes and R2-F2.

Imperial: A Black Squadron Pilot with the Determination ability, and an Obsidian Squadron Pilot.

The Imperial player initiates by deploying their ships within Range 1 of their designated play area edge.

Subsequently, the Rebel player positions a satellite token within Range 3, another within Range 2, and their ship(s) within Range 1 of their designated play area edge.

Each satellite token's placement must maintain a minimum Range of 2 from both lateral edges of the playing surface. Furthermore, following deployment, each satellite must be positioned at a Range of 2-3 from at least one other satellite.

Victory Conditions

To achieve a Rebel victory, either all Imperial ships must be eliminated, or all satellites must be returned to the game's supply. The Imperial side secures victory solely by successfully scanning all satellites and ensuring that at least one Imperial ship, having scanned a satellite, subsequently escapes the combat zone via the Imperial edge of the play area.
