The objective of the Alliance to Restore the Republic was to explore Dominus III, a planet situated in the Outer Rim Territories, as a possible location for a Rebel base. This mission occurred roughly two months following the Battle of Yavin. As soon as they arrived, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Wedge Antilles, who were piloting the ships, were nearly caught in an ambush by an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, which launched a squadron of TIE/IN interceptors to engage the Rebels. Antilles instructed everyone to head for the planet's surface. During the descent, Organa was shot down, but not before destroying a TIE fighter. After the crash, she successfully exited her vehicle and eliminated the pilot of the downed TIE. Following this, the Imperials deployed TIE/sa bombers to locate the Rebels, which compelled them to quickly flee through a severe polar storm.
