Around the Clone Wars' inaugural year, specifically 22 BBY, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi General, received orders for a mission to the planet of Kamino. The purpose was to thwart a Confederate scheme centered around acquiring the cloning DNA blueprint of Jango Fett, the bounty hunter. Little did Kenobi know, Count Dooku, the Sith Lord, had enlisted Vianna D'Pow, a Zeltron, to execute this plan, and the bounty hunter had already arrived on Kamino before Kenobi. When Mace Windu, a Jedi Master, informed Kenobi via hologram about Dooku's choice for the mission, D'Pow dramatically revealed herself to Kenobi. D'Pow, brandishing the DNA template, killed two clone troopers positioned near Kenobi before making her escape. The Jedi Knight pursued D'Pow, who was attempting to flee. Following a confrontation, the bounty hunter escaped on her speeder, but lost the DNA template during the fight with Kenobi, who then recovered it.
In 22 BBY, at the onset of the Clone Wars, Count Dooku, the Sith Lord, devised a plot to steal the cloning DNA template of Jango Fett, the bounty hunter. This template was vital for the creation of the Republic's Grand Army on the planet of Kamino. Dooku hired Vianna D'Pow, a Zeltron bounty hunter, to enact this scheme. Upon landing on Kamino, D'Pow located the DNA template vial within Tipoca City and quietly absconded with the item. She also met with Lama Su, Kamino's Prime Minister, requesting a clone of herself due to feelings of loneliness. Unaware of D'Pow's theft, Su authorized the order.

After the Jedi discovered the Confederate plot to pilfer Fett's DNA template, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi General, was dispatched to Kamino alongside a contingent of clone troopers. Upon Kenobi's arrival on Kamino, Su greeted the Jedi Knight, eager to ascertain the Republic's satisfaction with the Grand Army since its deployment. However, Kenobi began to disclose the Jedi's awareness of the Confederate scheme to the Prime Minister. Shortly thereafter, Kenobi responded to a holographic communication from Mace Windu, a Jedi Master, who revealed that Dooku had employed D'Pow to execute the theft of Fett's DNA template.

While Kenobi and Windu were in communication, D'Pow emerged from a nearby corridor and assaulted two clone troopers stationed near Kenobi. After killing the two soldiers, D'Pow brandished the DNA template vial, displaying it to Kenobi before fleeing the building. Su attempted to dissuade Kenobi from pursuing D'Pow, but to no avail. Outside, the Zeltron mounted a flying Aiwha to evade the pursuing Kenobi, who likewise, leapt onto the same creature. As Kenobi employed his lightsaber to impede her, D'Pow drew her blaster pistol and shock whip, initiating a confrontation between the two. When the Aiwha plunged into the ocean, Kenobi and D'Pow lost their weapons and engaged in hand-to-hand combat.
However, D'Pow escaped after activating her speeder by pressing a button on her utility belt. Despite her escape, the Jedi Knight had retrieved the stolen DNA template during their underwater struggle and displayed the vial to the departing D'Pow. Kenobi returned to Su, who was inside the building. When the Prime Minister stated that he had attempted to prevent him from pursuing D'Pow, Kenobi questioned his motives. Su revealed that D'Pow had met with him, requesting a clone of herself. He was uncertain whether to cancel the order, but Kenobi urged Su to fulfill D'Pow's request, as it would alleviate her feelings of loneliness.
The mission to Kamino was first depicted in "One of a Kind," a comic featured in the eighth volume of the Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures comic series. Both One of a Kind and the eighth volume were released in October 2007.
