The operation on Taanab, known as the Mission to Taanab, was undertaken by Jaden Korr, a Jedi Knight serving the New Jedi Order, in the year 14 ABY.
Jaden Korr's assignment to Taanab's spaceport stemmed from a freighter captain's report of Disciples of Ragnos sightings, prompting an investigation. Upon arrival, he was confronted by a gigantic mutated rancor, released senselessly by a Sith Cultist who subsequently became the creature's initial casualty. Recognizing the futility of conventional weaponry against the rancor, Korr retreated, seeking an alternative solution to subdue it.
During a pursuit through the spaceport, as Korr led the rancor, he engaged with Cultists and New Reborn attempting to impede his progress, eliminating them directly or indirectly by using the rancor.
Ultimately, Korr maneuvered the rancor onto a conveyer belt terminating at a force field. He then battled his way to the control room, where he activated the machinery. This resulted in the rancor's demise by compression between the force field and a robust container.
Upon his return to the Jedi Academy, Korr and his Jedi colleagues surmised that the cultists intended to unleash the rancor within the city, using the resulting chaos as a cover to pilfer resources and credits.
