After eliminating Zenex, and successfully deceiving a Neimoidian who was supposed to receive the message into believing the mission was accomplished, they transmitted the vital information to the Republic forces.
On Coruscant, Count Dooku received a report from Tookarti, detailing the events that had transpired. The truth was that Dooku and Darth Sidious secretly desired the Republic to be aware of the impending attack, allowing them to effectively defend against the Separatist assault.
Internal conflict was brewing among certain Separatist leaders, specifically those who sought to usurp Dooku's position, and they were the masterminds behind the attack on Kamino. The Sith Lords orchestrated the situation to humiliate these Separatist figures through their defeat, while simultaneously causing the deaths of Jedi in the ensuing conflict.
