Mitth welcoming ceremonies

Mitth welcoming ceremonies were formal events conducted by the Mitth family within the domain of the Chiss Ascendancy. These were typically short, routine affairs designed to integrate newly adopted members into the Mitth family structure, often incorporating a rematching dinner. The formality of the occasion, including the clothing worn, mirrored that of the Stybla honoring ceremonies; attendees, frequently politicians, generally maintained a reserved and formal manner of speech.

Kivu'raw'nuru's participation in the ritual occurred circa 39 BBY, facilitating his transfer from the Kivu family and subsequent reassignment to the Mitth lineage. It was during this event that Thrawn initially encountered Thrass, who would later become someone he considered akin to a sibling.

Behind the scenes

The concept of Mitth welcoming ceremonies was initially introduced in Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, published in 2020. However, the explicit naming of these ceremonies did not occur until the subsequent publication of Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil in the following year.
