The Merr-Sonn mobile grenade mortar, an assault vehicle employed by the Galactic Empire, possessed the capacity to launch roughly one hundred grenades each second. Its internal storage allowed for the reloading of hundreds of additional grenades via a tubular system. This vehicle, piloted by two stormtroopers atop a repulsorlift platform, exhibited rapid acceleration and the ability to ascend to heights of up to thirty meters.

During 19 BBY, a pair of ex-Jedi, namely Ferus Olin and Garen Muln, found themselves under attack within the Crystal Caves. Their assailants consisted of thirty stormtroopers accompanied by a Merr-Sonn mobile grenade mortar.
