Multi-tool
A multitool, also known as a multi-tool, was a device incorporating a diverse array of helpful implements, ranging from drills to magnifying lenses. Occasionally, a multitool could be configured to prevent its operator from employing a specific tool on a given material.
Although the instruments housed within the multitool operated similarly to their larger counterparts, they were not designed for demanding tasks. Extended use of the multitool's mechanical tools was not recommended, as it could lead to overheating. Regardless of their limitations, multitools were a common sight in the equipment collections of both amateur and experienced mechanics.
A standard individual multitool included a 5-cm vibroblade, a low-output hydrospanner, a compact hydrogrip, a toothpick, and a modest set of dining implements. It was powered by a solitary energy cell providing sufficient energy for 50 hours of operation.
Significant Multitools
- Kyle Katarn had presented his father, Morgan Katarn, with one as a present before departing for the Academy. It bore the inscription "To Dad, from Kyle" along with his initials on the grip, and he carried it on his belt pouch. Years later, he entrusted it to Roskin's young child to keep him entertained during their voyage to Ruusan (having previously removed the power cell). [2] It was eventually returned to him, and he discarded it in a chamber near the Valley of the Jedi. His son discovered it years afterward, following his father's path. [3]
