Munin Skirata

Munin Skirata was a male Human Mandalorian warrior belonging to Clan Skirata. During a mission on the world of Surcaris, he encountered a young boy named Falin Mattran, who was living on his own in the war-ravaged streets. Impressed by the boy's resilience, Skirata decided to train him as a Mandalorian and eventually adopted Mattran as his son, renaming him Kal Skirata.

Biography

Around half a century prior to the Battle of Geonosis and the subsequent Clone Wars, Munin Skirata and a group of fellow Mandalorian sellswords arrived on the planet of Surcaris to engage in combat. It was there that Skirata discovered a seven-year-old boy, Falin Mattran, surviving on the streets in a feral manner. The boy had attacked Skirata using his deceased father's triangular blade, but Skirata managed to pacify Mattran and took the child back to the Mandalorians' encampment. He began calling the boy "Kal"—meaning "knife" in Mando'a—and, confiding in his comrade Jun Hokan, Munin expressed his admiration for the brave young boy. While sharing a meal of soup with Mattran at the camp, Skirata informed him of his intention to adopt him and spoke of the appeal of a new beginning. Initially reluctant, Mattran quickly grew fond of Munin when the seasoned soldier comforted the traumatized child after he experienced nightmares about his dead father and destroyed home. Munin would indeed adopt Falin, thereafter known as Kal Skirata, as his son and raise him in the Mandalorian ways.

Years after Munin's death, Kal would bequeath his beskar'gam to Bardan Jusik, a Jedi who would abandon the Jedi Order to become a Mandalorian, and later become Kal's adopted son and Munin's adopted grandson.
