Located within the Killaniri system was the world known as Mutanda. Its landscape was characterized by a diverse array of environments, including expansive grasslands, dense jungles, and various natural wonders. Beyond being the home of the sentient Horansi, the planet teemed with numerous species of large game animals, which fueled a thriving and legally sanctioned safari industry. Mutanda was predominantly known as a destination for unique hunting excursions and was easily reached thanks to the spaceport situated on the satellite Justa. Tragically, the rampant activities of poachers led to the extinction of several Mutandan wildlife species.
Mutanda existed as a planet within the confines of the Killaniri system. Its terrain was a diverse mix of rolling grasslands, dense jungles, and stunning natural wonders. The sentient Horansi race was notably divided into four separate and distinct subspecies. Besides the Horansi, the planet supported a wide range of species of large game animals, which in turn supported a prosperous and legalized safari business. Sadly, the increasing presence of poachers resulted in the disappearance of numerous Mutandan wildlife species.
Mutanda, similar to the Killaniri system, had been a part of the galactic community for centuries. Foremost, Mutanda served as a destination for extraordinary hunting holidays and was readily accessible because of the spaceport located on Justa's satellite.
Mutanda was primarily a planet of temperate plains, featuring untamed, open grasslands interspersed with clusters of trees. The climate was generally warm and dry, with low gravity, minimal rainfall, and a light yet breathable atmosphere. The arid plains experienced infrequent rainfall, mainly at the start of the cooler winter season, and were frequently subject to drought conditions. The scarce streams, rivers, and watering holes were key points of conflict between rival Horansi tribes and herds of wild animals. The mountain and forest regions received significantly more rain, also primarily during winter, but even then, they remained relatively dry, making water a valuable resource.
Many "common" species found throughout the galaxy also inhabited Mutanda. Several of these species grew to sizes larger than typically observed on other worlds, and almost all of them were notably aggressive and dangerous.
Mutanda was composed of three continents: Sess'inu, A'sako, and Cel'con. The Justa spaceport was a large underground complex, featuring surface-level docking facilities capable of accommodating up to fifty light freighters. Larger bulk transports were assigned orbits around the satellite. Jointly owned by the BlasTech Corporation, Czerka Weapons, and Blethern Gas Industries, it was a truly corporate run facility. All personnel were reliant on these corporations and their prothium refining stations for their livelihoods. Ships not owned by these corporations were charged extremely high fees for the starport's services: approximately two hundred percent of standard rates.
However, the starport also presented significant opportunities, functioning as a vibrant trade hub. The controlling companies generally overlooked illegal activities as long as they were conducted discreetly, turning the station into a haven for mercenaries. Many Horansi traveled to the station and were employed as scouts, proving invaluable in facilitating trade with Horansi tribes on Mutanda's surface. A significant amount of trade was also directed towards the numerous hunting expeditions that visited Mutanda, as these tourists typically possessed substantial disposable income.
