Mynock-class assault boat

The Mynock-class assault boat represented a Corellian warship intended for intra-system engagements. Its development took place in the initial years of the New Republic era.

Characteristics

Reportedly, its design aimed to create a next-generation system patrol craft that boasted enhanced firepower and troop capacity when compared to older models such as the IPV-1 from Sienar Fleet Systems. Despite having its own hyperdrive, it was considerably slower with poorer handling, and also smaller than the previously established 100-meter minimum length for system patrol craft. Essentially, it functioned as a heavily built troop transport suitable for customs actions against pirates and smugglers, rather than a standard patrol vessel with increased troop-carrying abilities.

This assault boat had a length of 44 meters, featured two interior levels, and possessed substantial armament for its size, including a turret with a quad laser cannon, a concussion missile launcher, two medium ion cannons, and two light guns mounted on the chin. It also featured strong armor and shielding, and a class 2 hyperdrive, though its sublight speed and agility were restricted.

A pilot, co-pilot, and gunner formed the crew of the Mynock-class assault boat, which had the capacity to transport 24 soldiers. While it could act as a boarding vessel in space, its main purpose was ground-based attacks, where its powerful weapons could offer crucial fire support for the transported infantry. A single assault boat, along with its contingent of soldiers, was thought capable of handling most small-scale targets on a planet's surface.
