This once expansive urban center teemed with life, boasting a vast subterranean tunnel system that played a crucial role in safeguarding the aesthetic appeal of the city above. Its colossal size allowed for easy observation from the vastness of space.
Around 36 BBY, a devastating civil war ignited between rival factions, leading to the widespread destruction of nearly every structure in the city. This conflict compelled the surviving residents to seek refuge in the underground. Over ten years later, in 25 BBY, Obi-Wan Kenobi, accompanied by his Padawan Anakin Skywalker and the esteemed Jedi Master Yaddle, journeyed to Naatan. Their mission was to dismantle the oppressive control exerted by the gangs and facilitate the safe return of the people to the surface. However, the Jedi team soon uncovered a sinister plot: Striker, a key figure among the gang leaders, was in reality Granta Omega, scheming to obliterate the surface with a radioactive weapon. It was during this mission that Master Yaddle made the ultimate sacrifice, giving her life to protect Naatan. Following her death, Anakin carried a burden of guilt, believing that Granta Omega had manipulated him to bring her to that fateful place.
