NPR, which stands for National Public Radio, is a non-commercial radio service within the United States; it boasts a daily listenership of 26 million individuals.
NPR was responsible for the production and airing of radio adaptations of Star Wars in 1981 and The Empire Strikes Back in 1983. The final installment of the trilogy, Return of the Jedi (1996), was a product of HighBridge Audio, an entity linked to Minnesota Public Radio, and was broadcast on NPR.
Leading up to the cinematic release of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith in 2005, NPR broadcast multiple Star Wars-related programs. These included an interview with the film's musical composer, John Williams, along with film reviews, and supplementary content.
