During the Age of the Empire, the term "New Imperials" emerged in media circles as a way to characterize the initial cohort of individuals who came of age under the rule of the Galactic Empire. The lives and perspectives of these New Imperials stood in contrast to those of the preceding generation of Imperial officers, who had faced considerable challenges in their ascent during the era of the Galactic Republic. The older generation found it difficult to adapt to the changing norms, a challenge not shared by the New Imperials. Figures such as Rae Sloane and Lero Danthe were prominent examples of this group. Sloane expressed her conviction that the Empire's future success hinged on the leadership of individuals from her and Danthe's generation.
