Nia was a female Human Jedi Initiate. She was a student of the Jedi Order in the final years of the Galactic Republic. Her gender was female.
Nia, a Force-sensitive Human, received instruction in the Force from the Jedi Order. As the Clone Wars began between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Nia, an Initiate, stayed at the academy and continued her studies with the remaining instructors.
After three years of conflict, the war abruptly ended when Palpatine, the Republic's Supreme Chancellor, betrayed the Order. He issued Contingency Order 66 to the Grand Army of the Republic, an order that commanded the clone troopers to kill their Jedi superiors. Nia, along with several other Initiates including Bon, managed to flee when the clones attacked. They were rescued by Hurd Coyle, a junk salvager. Coyle promised to take the Initiates to a secure location aboard his salvage ship, and they remained together.
During their journey, Coyle's ship detected a damaged V-19 Torrent starfighter. He hoped to recover parts from the ship. Coyle was surprised to find HOB-147, a clone pilot, still alive inside. The clone awoke and began destroying Coyle's reprogrammed B1-series battle droids. Coyle then used an electro-dart to subdue the clone and locked the pilot in a room. The clone escaped and discovered the Jedi Initiates hiding in the junk ship's cargo hold. Fearing that the clone would kill him and his companions, Nia and the other Initiates rendered the man unconscious. Upon waking, Initiate Nia convinced the clone to spare the lives of her and her companions. Later, stormtroopers from the newly formed Galactic Empire boarded Coyle's ship in search of escaped Jedi. Clone HOB-147 lied, claiming that there were no Jedi on board, allowing Nia and her fellow Jedi to escape.
